Jessica Hirsch, the content creator of the popular lifestyle brand and digital production company CheatDayEats, and her husband Brian Coogan found their Twilight-esque venue at Windows on the Water Frogbridge. While they couldn’t get married in the exact same location as Bella and Edward, they could invoke the same love and atmosphere of the iconic and magical wedding scene in Breaking Dawn, Part 1, and the 86-acre lakeside Windows on the Water venue was the perfect place to do it.
Traditionally, the outdoor venue hosts weddings on a sprawling patio, but Jessica hunted down a lesser-known spot nestled within towering trees that invoked the same ambiance as the mystical Forks woods wedding scene. Jessica said to The Knot, “The venue doesn’t often use this specific space for their ceremonies, but when I went to see it for myself, I really loved the layout.”
At Windows on the Water, our goal is to help couples plan and host their dream wedding. Our dedicated team is committed to helping couples execute the vision in their mind and make it a reality. We are thrilled to have helped Jessica and Brian make their Twilight-themed wedding come to life.
How Jessica Hirsch and Brian Coogan Planned Their Twilight-Themed Wedding
Finding the perfect venue is critical to executing a successful themed wedding. The venue is a key factor in providing the atmosphere needed to convey the theme of your choice. Jessica and Brian knew that their theme had to be Twilight because, like Bella and Edward, they were lucky enough to have a cinematic start to their relationship. They wanted the love and magic of Bella and Edwards’s love story and wedding to be the foundation of their own magical day, and they were able to capture that aesthetic thanks to the whimsical grounds of Windows on the Water.
Picking the right venue isn’t the only thing that’s necessary to plan and host your own Twilight-esque wedding. All the other wedding details must also invoke the same aesthetics and themes of that enchanting Breaking Dawn, Part 1 wedding scene. Jessica and Brian paid attention to every detail, including:
A Shared Vision for Whimsical Florals
One of the things that made Bella and Edward’s wedding scene so special was the overwhelming amount of flowers. It was as if the couple was inside their own natural cocoon of flowers. The grounds of Windows on the Water provide a natural beauty that helped create the foundation, but the thing that took it to the next level—the same level as Bella and Edward’s wedding—was the floral work that Jessica and Brian asked for.
Erick Suzao, the founder of Aurora Rose Events, hung suspended wisteria blooms to create the “magical sight” Jessica requested. The aisles were enveloped in Australian ferns, lisianthus, viburnum ranunculus, and sprinkles of cherry blossoms with moss embedded within the arrangements. According to The Knot Suazo, “decorated tables with grand spherical arrangements that stood tall and tree-like.” Suazo’s attention to detail helped turn the Windows on the Water landscape into a “work of art.”
Jessica Hunted for a Dress that Fit the Theme
While capturing that Twilight aesthetic for their venue was somewhat a simple task, choosing a wardrobe that captured the same essence proved to be trickier—-especially because Jessica has a deep love for bridal attire. “I love wedding dresses, and I wish I could have worn a few,” Jessica said to The Knot. Fortunately, she found an airy colder-shoulder corset dress from Galia Lahav, with embroidery, sparkly silver sequins, and a sheer lace pattern that perfectly fit her wedding theme.
The Music Fit the Theme
Jessica and Brian paid attention to every detail, ensuring they fit and complement their theme, which extended into the music. Jessica’s entrance was to “Turning Page” by Sleeping At Last—the same song that Bella walked down the aisle to in the movie. From the start, the couple made sure that the inspiration for their wedding was clear. Following the ceremony, their DJ had the perfect playlist at the ready. Their DJ played everything from the old classics to current hits, with 90’s throwbacks for the couple and their loved ones. The newlyweds danced to a mashup of their two favorite songs: “At Last” by Etta James and “Love Story—Radio Edit” by Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina.
